TikTok Algorithm Impresses and Alarms Hungarian Teens
TikTok’s precise content recommendations impress but also concern many Hungarian teenagers, according to a recent study by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH).
Based on a representative online survey of around 1,000 adults aged 18–49 and focus group discussions with youths aged 10–17, the research found that children often start using TikTok as early as eight, despite the platform’s official minimum age limit of 13.
While over half of adults in the 18–49 group have registered on TikTok, it is ranked fourth overall; Facebook remains the most popular platform.
Nearly half of the registered users spend at least an hour daily on the app. This is especially true for those under 30, individuals with lower education levels, and residents of county seats.
