Hans-Peter Kemser, 56, will be the director of the new BMW plant in Debrecen, the company reported.
Kemser has been managing the group’s Leipzig plant since 2015 and will oversee construction work in Debrecen from January 2022. The company’s director in Debrecen is responsible for the series production of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series and BMW i3 at the Leipzig plant.
The Debrecen plant, which will cost a total of EUR 1 billion, is scheduled to run from 2025 and will produce the purely electric models of the BMW Neue Klasse model generation. Construction of the central office building and training center will begin in early 2022.
