People traveling to Germany from Hungary are no longer subject to entry restrictions. German authorities have lifted the Covid risk area classification of Hungary in effect from Sunday midnight. The only exception concerns entry by plane, in which case one can still only enter the country with either a negative PCR test or vaccination certificate.

German authorities have changed the epidemiological classification of Hungary, excluding the country from Germany’s pandemic risk list.

Thus, from Sunday, German entry restrictions including pre-registration, negative PCR test, and quarantine regulations are no longer in force for people traveling from Hungary.

The only exception concerns entry by plane in which case one can only enter the country with a negative test or vaccination certificate.

Those traveling by car must also comply with the Austrian regulations, which means they have to first register online in order to have “Pre-Travel Clearance,” which is often checked at the border.

In any case, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry still advises against tourist travel.
