The Hungarian government has extended a temporary regulation stipulating that foreign nationals may only enter Hungary in special cases where it is justified, and Hungarians returning from abroad have to quarantine themselves.

The regulation, instituted as a measure against coronavirus, was originally set to expire on November 1st. It naturally entailed the reintroduction of border control even with countries within the Schengen Area.

Similar restrictions exist for instance, in Denmark. There, those who wish to enter from “banned” regions, which includes almost the entire EU, must present a worthy purpose and have a negative coronavirus test within the 72 hours before arriving in Denmark.

Finland is also restricting non-essential inbound travel even from Schengen countries based on the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in each nation. Testing is not yet mandatory for essential travel but will become necessary on November 23rd.
