As the number of coronavirus cases has increased worldwide, strict epidemiological measures have been implemented at the airport and on board flights at Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport. For safety reasons, passengers can drop off their luggage themselves and must also comply with keeping the mandatory distance.

Stricter epidemiological measures have been taken at Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport and onboard flights. While it is not mandatory to wear a mask at the airport, it is obligatory to wear one on board. Furthermore, posted signs remind travelers to maintain distance between one another.

As a new precaution, it is now possible for passengers to check in their own luggage. After scanning the flight ticket, a machine prints the baggage tag, which passengers fix to their suitcases and then place it on the conveyor belt.

Airport management emphasizes disinfectant cleaning several times a day throughout the airport.

The spokesman for the Government Information Center said that the government aims to prevent the coronavirus. He explained that Hungary had successfully defended itself in the first phase of the coronavirus epidemic – thanks to the disciplined behavior of Hungarians – the epidemic curve was flattened. However, not every European country was so successful and the epidemic has hit Europe again, he said.
