SME Fund: A new voucher for craft and industrial geographical indications
The SME Fund continues to evolve in 2026, expanding its support to European SMEs and stakeholders across the intellectual property ecosystem.
Alongside the existing 4 vouchers for IP pre-diagnostic services, trade marks, designs, patents and Community plant varieties, a new voucher has been made available to support geographical indications for craft and industrial products, known as CIGIs.
Voucher 5 provides financial support of up to a maximum of EUR 2,000 per beneficiary for costs related to the registration procedure of craft and industrial geographical indications.
Eligible applicants will be able to request reimbursement for the following costs: CIGI applications fees at national level, CIGI application fees at EU level, and preparation of the product specification document.
Voucher 5 is available to entities involved in the protection of craft and industrial geographical indications that meet the eligibility conditions. Eligible applicants include producer groups established in the EU, provided they include at least one SME, single producers qualifying as SMEs, and local or regional authorities and private entities designated by Member States.
